Having filed a whopping 6,000 page charge sheet in the IPL spot fixing case yesterday, Delhi Police is set to request the court for the cancellation of bail granted to cricketersu00a0S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan and 19 others.
"We are moving an application requesting the court to cancel the bail granted to 21 people including the two cricketers in the IPL spot-fixing case," Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) S N Shrivastava was quoted as saying by PTI.
A court had granted bail to the two players and several other bookies on June 10, saying there is no reason that they should be booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
It may be recalled that the court had said prima facie there was "no sufficient material" against the accused to establish their "nexus" with organised crime syndicate.
"There is no reason for believing that the accused are guilty under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) at this stage," Additional Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Khanna had said in his judgement on June 10.
Sources in Delhi Police said the investigation has moved forward and they have "enough evidence" to prove an organised crime syndicate in the case to justify slapping of MCOCA against the accused.
The three players of Rajasthan Royals along with 11 bookies, were arrested from Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi during the IPL-6 in May. Another 15 people were arrested from different parts of the country later.u00a0
