Deepak Jadhav
Deepak Jadhav, the former Mumbai all-rounder, who was granted a R10,000 monthly pension by the Mumbai Cricket Association after a two-year struggle, has decided to donate the amount he will get with retrospective effect as well his monthly remittance.
Half the funds will be donated to Cricketers' Foundation, a recently formed organisation which aims to better the lot of those from the cricketing fraternity who need financial assistance.
The other half will be given to young cricketers identified by him. The MCA, it is learnt, denied Jadhav his pension since they felt he was doing well for himself, including owning a Mercedes car.
Currently, a Mumbai under-16 selector, Jadhav felt the Cricketers' Foundation whose chairman includes Dr Makarand Waingankar, a journalist Jadhav knows since his formative years, was an apt organisation to donate his pension to.
Other trustees of Cricketers' Foundation are Abhijit Sanzgiri, Fredun De Vitre, Amit Gadkari, Dr Shailesh Shrikhande and Salil Datar. âTo recognise and offer a helping hand' is the foundation's credo.
