Subramanian Badrinath and Harbhajan Singh, two of the architects of India's opening victory on their tour of the Caribbean, said the result would help the confidence of the side in the first of the five one-day matches today.

Badrinath made 43 to lead India to 159 for six in the Twenty20 International on Saturday at Queen's Park, and Harbhajan followed up with two wickets, as West Indies stuttered to 143 for five.

"This is a good start for me and the team," said Badrinath. "I'm happy that the team and I have started so well. It's not my first time in the Caribbean. I visited for the World Twenty20, but I never got the chance to play. The conditions are similar to what we get in India, so that helped us in this game."

Harbhajan said: "We stuck to our task well, and got the victory. We just want to take it one game at a time.

We have got a quality side, although it's a young side, many of them have done well in the IPL and on the domestic circuit, and we are all looking forward to the remainder of the tour.

"West Indies will be keen to put up some keen performances against us, and we know they can be a tough side.

"We want to go out there, and play the way we know we can play, and hopefully, once we stick to our processes, and play to our potential, we should come out on the winning side."
