After two ordinary World Cups, Yuvraj Singh is keen to make it third time lucky, and as much with the ball as with the willow. The 29-year-old from Chandigarh has not been in the best of form with the bat going into this World Cup. He last hit a one-day hundred nearly two years ago and averages a mere 28.66 from 14 innings in the last 12 months.

Perhaps aware of his run drought, the Punjab player is keen to compensate with his slow left-arm twirls. "I would like to contribute more to the team. My main objective is to bowl the right line and contain the batsmen, and in the bargain take some wickets," Yuvraj told MiD DAY. "The team management has given me a new responsibility and I'm trying my level best to deliver. I am really enjoying my bowling.

After all these years, I am getting the opportunity to bowl the full quota of 10 overs.u00a0 Batting is there for me but bowling is what I am enjoying (at the moment)."Yuvraj is not the prowling panther on the field anymore. Injuries have taken their toll, but he remains an agile fielder.

Cricket's biggest stage seems to have provided him some much-needed spark and it was visible in the enthusiasm he showed during yesterday's fielding session at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The opener against Bangladesh today provides the Indians an opportunity to settle an old score and Yuvraj is pumped up. "We'd like to be on top from the word go. We all have to deliver and rise to the occasion. We are raring to go."
