London: A stunt for cheap thrills landed a 26-year-old in grave trouble. A prankster on a stag do was arrested by police, after he sparked a terror alert at Glasgow International Airport by planting a fake bomb in the groom's suitcase.

Prank gone wrong
The Glasgow airport security went into a tizzy as a man's bag was flagged as potentially holding a dangerous weapon. The to-be groom, completely unaware of the items inside his bag, was going through X-ray checks when the alarms went off and the staff began searching through the bag.

Baggage X-ray machines picked up a crude device in the baffled stag's luggage shortly before he boarded his flight for a weekend in Berlin.

Other passengers looked on in horror as police descended on the scene. But it soon emerged that the fake bomb had actually been planted by one of his pals, who never made it on the flight. "It may not have been a real bomb, but in the current climate it was a very stupid thing to do," a source said.

The alleged prankster is due at the Paisley Sheriff court next month in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for Glasgow International Airport said, "There was a passenger arrested at the airport after police were called, and they conducted a search of this passenger's bag. We can confirm an incident at the baggage screening area, which resulted in police being called. The security staff and police take a dim view of this." The police confirmed that a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
