Arnold Schwarzenegger brought his significant girth to Twitter timelines last morning, after announcing his separation from wife Maria Shriver. Considering they met in 1977 and were married way back in 1986, this move caused a number of people to rethink their already misplaced faith in Hollywood romances. According to a smart alec (one of a few million on Twitter), the former Governor of California allegedly ended his relationship with the words, 'Hasta la vista, baby.' Interestingly, there were more comments about Shriver than Schwarzenegger, which may have something to do with the fact that the former is a lot easier to spell.

Also trending was Cannes a.k.a. the favourite holiday destination of Aishwarya Rai and Mallika Sherawat. There was some outrage following reports that a documentary titled 'Unlawful Killing' would feature a shocking paparazzi photograph of a dying Princess Diana for the first time. Miss Sherawat had nothing to say about films being screened at the festival, but did discuss her outfit for the red carpet.

MSFT (or Microsoft Corp. for luddites) and Skype were both trending topics, after it was announced that the former intended to buy the latter. Cynics had a field day, of course. Like the guy with the handle 'Jadedfox' who tweeted: 'So with Skype (the de facto video chat standard) being bought by MSFT, does this open the door for someone else to take over and innovate?'

'Lies We Tell' was a popular hashtag that lead to some interesting revelations like, 'I didn't get your text message', 'I'm on my way', 'Babe, you're different from anyone else I've ever been with' and, very worrying, 'I love you.' Finally, the celebrity tweet of the day. This came from actor Ranvir Shorey: 'Dear Pakistan, use this adverse situation to restore a healthy democracy, free of military control. Don't be China. Be India.' Amen to that.
