Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has announced her retirement in a heartfelt message dedicated to her mother, day after Olympic disqualification. Phogat, a leading figure in the wrestling world, withdrew from the Paris Olympics 2024 a day after being disqualified from the Women’s Freestyle 50kgs event on 7th of August. She was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight. After her disqualification several Indian politicos and Indian sportspersons have reacted. Indian politicians like Shatrughan Sinha, Tejasvi Surya, AAP MP Harbhajan Singh and JP Nadda shared their disappointment.
