Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Guyana for a historic visit, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 56 years. He was warmly greeted in Georgetown by President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, along with ministers from Guyana and the Prime Ministers of Grenada and Barbados. The visit will focus on strengthening ties based on shared heritage and values. PM Modi will also honor the Indian diaspora, who have been in Guyana for over 185 years. During his two-day trip, he will meet with President Ali, address the Guyanese parliament, and attend the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit. PM Modi was presented with the ‘Key to the city’ and enjoyed local cultural performances.
