The citizens of Puri in Odisha came out in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he held a roadshow in Odisha on Monday.

On Monday, PM Modi met his supporters in roadshows in Dhenkanal, Puri and Cuttack, preparing ahead for the phase six general elections 2024.

Speaking at a public gathering under the Dhenkanal Lok Sabha seat, Modi remarked that despite the state's abundance of natural riches, its citizens are in need.

"Even, the temple of Lord Jagannath in Puri is not safe in the hands of this government," Modi stated, worrying over the past six years that Lord Jagannath's Ratna Bhandar (treasury) keys have gone missing.

"Who is responsible for the sorry state of affairs in Odisha? It is the BJD government which is under the control of some corrupt people. A handful of corrupt persons have grabbed the chief minister's office and residence. Small workers of the BJD have now become crorepatis," the Prime Minister said.

The PM added in his address that people in large numbers are migrating to other states despite Odisha being rich in natural resources like mines, forests and water.

The PM was met with enthusiastic supporters who came to express their gratitude and support towards the BJP.

Seeing a child holding up a picture of Lord Jagannath in his rally, PM recalled his visit to Somnath temple. He said that seeing poverty in Odisha, he felt hurt. "Who has destroyed my Odisha? Who has ruined the dreams of the youths? This gives me extreme pain," said PM Modi.
