Former Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya launched his own political outfit the Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party on Thursday.

Maurya's party--RSSP--was launched at Talkatora stadium in the national capital on February 22.

The politician was garlanded by his supporters as he launched his own political outfit.

Rumours had been rife that Maurya is set to launch his own political outfit, espeically after he stepped down as National General Secretary of the SP on February 13.

Swami Prasad Maurya, in his resignation to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, had told that he will work to fortify the party even in the absence of a position.

In a response to SP's comment on his exit, he said earlier that ideology is important to him, not the position. He said he will raise his voice whenever there will be an attack on the rights and welfare of the public.

There was a rift between SP chief Yadav and Maurya which widened when he said that Swami Prasad joined his party for benefits.

Swami Prasad Maurya had joined the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP in January 2022, leaving the ruling BJP after he kicked up a controversy over his comments on Ramcharitmanas and Sanatan Dharma.
