Delhi Finance Minister Atishi on Monday announced the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana' during her maiden budget speech.

The scheme is aimed at empowering women aged 18 and above by providing them with a monthly assistance of Rs 1,000.

As part of the scheme, all eligible women in Delhi will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 starting from the fiscal year 2024-25, Finance Minister Atishi said in her budget speech.

Atishi presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the Delhi Assembly, allocating a substantial outlay of Rs 76,000 crore to support various developmental initiatives.

In her budget speech, Atishi reaffirmed the government's vision of realising the dream of 'Ram Rajya' based on principles of good governance, justice, and welfare for all citizens, with a special focus on women's empowerment.

Ahead of presenting the budget, Atishi sought the blessings of senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia's mother and wife.

By doing so, she acknowledged their support and guidance in the absence of Sisodia, who was arrested by the CBI in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

Atishi, during her speech, reflected on her journey from hearing Manish Sisodia's budget speeches since 2015 to presenting her maiden budget in the Delhi Assembly.

With Sisodia's resignation from the cabinet following his arrest, Atishi assumed the post of Finance Minister.
