The festivities kick off with Holika Dahan, where bonfires are lit to symbolize the victory of good over evil
The following day, streets and residences come alive with bursts of color as people join in passionate 'Rangwali Holi,' smearing one other with vivid gulal (colored powder) and dousing one another with water-filled balloons
Traditional sweets like as gujiya, mathri, and thandai add to the celebratory spirit as families and friends gather to celebrate the auspicious occasion
In Maharashtra and Gujarat, Holi celebrations take on a unique flavor with the tradition
The day begins with the 'Gulal Utsav,' in which people assemble in public places to sing and dance while showering each other with colorful powders and joyful welcomes
