After being struck by a train near Kaljariya railway crossing in Jamtara of Jharkhand, two pedestrians were killed and several others injured.

Jamtara Deputy Commissioner Shashi Bhushan Mehra confirmed the fatalities and stated that the injured individuals were taken to hospitals for medical treatment.

The local police, district administration, and railway officials initiated a rescue operation at the accident site to manage the situation and provide assistance to the victims.

Jamtara Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Anant Kumar provided additional details, explaining that the incident occurred when passengers disembarked near Kalajharia railway crossing and were subsequently struck by another train.

A search operation is underway, and two bodies have been recovered so far. Authorities are coordinating efforts to establish communication channels, including the establishment of a helpline number for the families of the injured.

Medical supervisors were deployed at hospitals to gather information from the injured individuals, facilitating the process of notifying their families about the accident.

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta has instructed local authorities to conduct rescue operations and ensure adequate medical treatment for the injured. He emphasized the importance of prompt and efficient healthcare services without any negligence.

Chief Minister Champai Soren expressed condolences over the unfortunate incident and highlighted the administration's efforts in providing relief and rescue operations. He wished for the speedy recovery of the injured individuals and urged support for the bereaved families during this difficult time.
