Reasi Terror Attack: VHP holds protest against J&K bus attack

Vishwa Hindu Parishad, on Wednesday, held a protest against Reasi terror attack in the national capital--New Delhi. The VHP had announced on Tuesday that they would be holding a protest against attack on bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district resulting in nine deaths.

A functionary of the VHP said, "Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal held a protest demanding strict action against terrorists. Those who died and were injured were going to Vaishno Devi for darshan."

According to PTI, he said that the protesters would hand over a memorandum to senior officials. It would be addressed to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, demanding strict action against those behind the Reasi terror attack.

A senior Vishva Hindu Parishad functionary announced on Tuesday that the Bajrang Dal will hold a nation-wide demonstration against a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi on Wednesday. The incident killed nine people, including a two-year-old, and injured several others.

Condemning the incident, Milind Parande, VHP general secretary (organization), said, "It was a cowardly attack by Islamic terrorists backed by Pakistan."

As per reports from PTI, the VHP leader paid tribute to the pilgrims who were killed in the Reasi terror attack. He wished for the speedy recovery of those left injured in the incident.

On the other hand, Ranjeet Singh, Manager of the Bus Booking Company, recounted the harrowing tale of the Reasi terror attack, highlighting the heroic sacrifice of the bus driver for the 40 passengers onboard.

Singh expressed disbelief that such an incident could happen in an area that was thought to be safe. The driver's bravery and quick thinking saved the passengers from further tragedy. Ranjeet said that the bus driver disobeyed the millitants' commands and ultimately gave his life to protect the passengers. Ranjeet told ANI, "If the driver had not shown courage and sped up the bus, not a single passenger would have been safe."

On Sunday evening, the terrorists opened fire at the 53-seater bus, which killed nine people and left 41 injured. The bus was on its way from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge near the Teryath village in Reasi.

The bus was ferrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi on Sunday, as reported by PTI.

Extensive efforts to track down the terrorists involved in the attack on pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district continued on Tuesday. Officials said on Tuesday, 11 teams of security personnel are working on the ground and a multi-directional cordon is laid around the Poni-Treyath belt.
