In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent questioning of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's leadership, Congress MLA Priyank Kharge advised the Prime Minister to delve into Karnataka's political history before passing judgment.

Speaking to ANI in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, Kharge addressed Modi's uncertainties about the duration of Siddaramaiah's governance, pointing out the BJP's history of quick turnovers in power. "The Prime Minister should update his knowledge of Karnataka's political landscape," Kharge asserted. He highlighted the BJP's term, which saw five chief ministers in less than eight years.

Kharge also critiqued the BJP's performance, referring to their governance as the "40 percent government" according to newspapers. He reminded that the BJP government was removed from power, and the subsequent mandate awarded to the Congress was one of the most significant in the past few decades with 136 seats.

"His (Modi) government was the one that was thrown out of Karnataka, and people gave us the biggest mandate in the last 35-40 years of 136 seats. His government was called as the most corrupt government in the country by newspapers calling it the 40 per cent government. That is the legacy of the BJP in Karnataka," the Karnataka Minister said.

Emphasizing the readiness for a political debate, Kharge urged the Prime Minister to enhance his understanding of Karnataka politics before engaging in discussions. "The Prime Minister often delivers monologues. When he's ready for a dialogue, we can debate," Kharge expressed.

Regarding questions about the Chief Minister's term, Kharge stated that it's an internal matter for their party. He also highlighted past power struggles within the Congress in Karnataka, particularly the rivalry between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy DK Shivakumar.

Kharge drew attention to the BJP's treatment of their own Chief Ministers, citing instances where candidatures were altered or individuals were appointed to different positions. He questioned the party's control and stability in such decisions.

Discussing the upcoming state assembly elections, Kharge expressed confidence in Congress' prospects, attributing the BJP's supposed failures in economic policies at the center and asserting their anticipation of success in all five states. (With inputs from ANI)
