Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that India's voice is now respected on international forums, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Singh accused the Congress of "corruption" and "misgovernance" during a public rally in Palwal.
Singh said, "Twenty-five years ago, India was not taken seriously worldwide. Today, thanks to PM Modi Ji's strong leadership, the world listens to India. Many global leaders call Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Boss' and hold him in high regard."
He contrasted this with the period under former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, pointing out that in 2014, after a decade of Congress administration, India was rated 11th internationally. Under Modi's leadership, India has risen to the fifth-largest economy in the world in just eight years, reported ANI.
"India's growing stature has also deterred intimidation from other countries, as India now knows how to assert itself. Congress did not even develop infrastructure on the country's borders, because the then Defense Minister said that China would get angry if roads were built in the border areas," he claimed.

According to the report, the Defense Minister alleged, "The Congress claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would dissolve elected state governments in his third term, but Prime Minister Modi hadn't dissolved any government in the past decade. In contrast, the Congress dissolved elected governments over 132 times, with Indira Gandhi responsible for 90 of those instances."
He accused the Congress of routinely dissolving state administrations, noting 132 incidents, 90 of which Indira Gandhi was responsible for. In contrast, he stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not dissolved any elected state government in the last decade.
The Defence Minister also noted the BJP's execution of the 'One Rank One Pension' policy and India's important achievements in defence exports, such as the sale of BrahMos missiles to other countries, the ANI report added.
"India has achieved significant milestones, including exporting approximately Rs 21 thousand crores worth of goods annually and selling BrahMos missiles to other nations," he added.
Haryana's 10 parliamentary constituencies will hold Lok Sabha elections on May 25. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won all 10 seats in the state. In the 2014 elections, the BJP secured 7 seats, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won 2 seats, and Congress won 1 seat.
