A 65-year-old woman suffered severe injuries in an assault by her relative after she filed a complaint with the gram panchayat in Nagpur, as per a police statement on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Nitesh Narayan Dekate (30), had installed a rainwater drainage pipe that was leaking and affecting the property of the victim, Sushila Likhar.
"Sushila worked as a vegetable vendor. This led to ongoing disputes between them," the official noted.
"The matter was reported by her to the Dongargaon gram panchayat, which angered Dekhate. On Friday morning, authorities inspected the drainage pipe. Later that evening, he attacked the elderly woman with a knife, causing significant harm," the official explained.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old woman was arrested for alleged abduction of a one-and-half years old boy within 12 hours of the incident in Malad, police said on Friday.
Sonam Sahu, the accused, allegedly gave Rs 200 to the boy's sister and sent her off to buy biscuits when they were playing outside their house on Thursday evening.
As the girl went to the shop, the accused allegedly took the boy and fled, an official said.
Sahu was nabbed on the basis of technical surveillance and the boy was reunited with his family, he added.
Further probe is on, he said.
