Maharashtra: Fire breaks out at Mandai Metro Station in Pune, no one injured

An official on Monday said that a fire broke out on the ground floor of the Mandai Metro Station in Pune past midnight but no one was injured in the incident, reported news agency PTI.

On information, the Pune fire brigade department immediately rushed 5 fire tender vehicles and brought the fire under control within five minutes.

According to the fire department, the incident at Mandai Metro Station occurred when some foam caught fire during a welding work, reported PTI.

"Upon receiving a call about the fire, five fire tenders were rushed to the spot at Mandai Metro Station and the flames were extinguished. No one was injured in the incident," said a fire department officer, reported PTI.

Local MP and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol took to X to say the fire had been extinguished and the incident did not affect metro service.

Fire engulfs library in Navi Peth in Pune

A fire broke out in a library in the Navi Peth area in Pune, Maharashtra on Thursday morning, reported ANI.

Four fire brigades and two water tankers reached the spot and the fire was doused, Pune City Fire Department said.

An official told ANI that no casualty or injury was reported, but the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.

The fire broke out at 6:30 am and the whole library, including furniture, computers, and books was destroyed in the fire, reported ANI.

"The fire broke out at the library at 6:30 am. We put out the fire using 4 fire brigades and 2 water tankers. There has been no casualty or injury. The fire has been doused. The library, including furniture, computers, and books, has been destroyed. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. What we know is that pest control was carried out last night," Rajesh Jagtap, Fire Officer at Pune City Fire Department said, reported ANI.

Earlier on October 16, three people died after a fire broke out in the Riya Palace building in the Andheri area of Mumbai.

"As soon as information about the fire was received, fire brigade officials reached the spot and started controlling the fire," Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

The Chief Medical Officer of the Cooper Hospital informed that three deceased people were identified as Chandraprakash Soni, Kanta Soni and Pelubeta.
