Maharashtra crime: The Latur Police in Maharashtra registered an offence against two persons for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 39-year-old businessman by failing to repay Rs 3.3 crore they had borrowed from him in Maharashtra's Latur district, police said on Monday, reported the PTI.
According to the PTI, the body of businessman Siddheshwar Kisanrao Santanse was found hanging from a tree on a farm in Akharwadi village in Latur tehsil on November 7, an official said.
A suicide note was found in the pocket of the deceased man's clothing, in which he blamed Dr Annasaheb Birajdar and Sachin Kalyani for pushing him to take the extreme step, assistant police inspector Dnyandev Sanap said, as per the PTI.
"Santanse has lent Rs 3.3 crore to the duo. He committed suicide as he felt harassed when they did not return the money," he said.
Santanse had lent Rs 2.85 crore to Birajdar and Rs 45 lakh to Kalyani over a period of time and had not maintained any record of the same. He felt harassed when they did not return the money despite his repeated requests, the police official said.
Based on a complaint, a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the duo and further probe is underway, he said.
Meanwhile, in an another incident in Mumbai, a 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Friday night, the police said.

He was rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Bandra west where he was declared dead before admission, the police said.
Singh was an employee of a private bank and lived with his parents in Parel area of central Mumbai.
According to the Worli Police, the deceased had boarded a taxi from BKC to Parel but asked the driver to take the route through the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. When the taxi reached the Sea Link, Singh, who was talking on his mobile phone, told the driver that his phone had fallen down. The driver parked the taxi mid-way, and Singh got down from the taxi and immediately jumped into the sea.
The shocked driver informed the personnel deployed at the toll plaza, and the information was given to the Mumbai Police, an official said on Saturday.
The police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and are probing the matter further, he said.
