Maharashtra: 16-year-old loses balance while playing, falls to death from third floor in Latur

A 16-year-old boy died after he lost his balance while playing and fell from the terrace of a 3-storey building in Maharashtra's Latur city, an official said on Friday, reported news agency PTI.

The incident took place at Laxmi Colony in the city on Thursday.

Raj, alias Jagdish Mahadev Sakhre, lived at Bitargaon village and had come to Latur to attend a birthday function at a relative's place. Sakhre was playing with another boy on the terrace of a 3-storey building when he lost his balance and crashed to the ground, the official said, reported PTI.

The teenager sustained serious injuries due to the fall and was rushed to the government hospital. However, he died during treatment, the official said, reported PTI.

The Shivajinagar police have registered a case of accidental death and are probing into the death, the official added, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, two persons have been arrested on charges of killing a 41-year-old man in Ausa tehsil of central Maharashtra's Latur district, a police official said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

The accused, identified as Ashpak Yusuf Shaikh (28) and Zakir Abdul Ghaffar Shaikh (30), both local residents, were arrested from their homes on Monday and booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (murder), reported PTI.

According to the police, the victim, Ismail Mubarak Maniyar, was beaten to death allegedly by the duo between Budhoda and Ausa Road areas on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, reported PTI.

However, the motive behind the murder was not yet known, they said.

In another incident, a 19-year-old woman reported missing from her home was found dead in a well at a village in Maharashtra's Latur district, police said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

The body of Archana Satyawan Tarode was found in a well in Kajalhipparga village on Monday, three days after she went missing from her house in Vilegaon in Ahmedpur tehsil, an official said, reported PTI.

The woman had stepped out of her house on the evening of October 6 without informing her family and never returned, he said.

The woman's husband reported her missing on Sunday, following which the police launched a search and found the body in a well, the official said, reported PTI.
