Samajwadi Party on Thursday condemned the âattack' on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen's (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi's convoy.
In a tweet, the party stated, "Violence of any kind should have no place in a democracy. The news of firing on the vehicle of the National President of AIMIM is very sad and condemnable."

It added, "Strict action should be taken against those responsible for the incident."
Bhim Army Chief also condmned the act and expressed sympathies for Owaisi.
"In a state, where the CM openly incites the crowd from the stage, what more can one expect from his blind devotees there? The attack on the National President @asadowaisi of AIMIM exposes the poor system of governance. Our sympathies are with Owaisi ji," he tweeted in Hindi.
Entrepreneur Tehseen Poonawalla questioned if UP is a "jungle raaj" where MPs can get shot and attackers can escape.
A Hyderabad socio-political activist Khalida Parveen also condemned the act.
Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday informed that two people attacked and fired bullets on his convoy when he was leaving Meerut's Kithoudh area for Delhi today.
He also informed that his car got punctured which led him to leave the place in another vehicle.
"They were a total of 3-4 people. Tyres of my vehicle got punctured, then I left the place in another vehicle," Owaisi said.
"We have inspected the spot based on the inputs we received. We have collected the evidence. One person who was identified with the help of CCTV has been apprehended. Questioning is being done. We will take this to its logical end," said Praveen Kumar, IG Range, Meerut.
