A 40-year-old woman was burnt alive by neighbours in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district over a land dispute

A 40-year-old woman was burnt alive by neighbours in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district over a land dispute, police said tuesday.

Four people of a family have been arrested for the crime that took place Monday in Dhobghati village, some 200 km from the state capital Raipur.

Officials at the police headquarters here said that the four people included a woman. They allegedly poured kerosene on their neighbour Sushila Bai and set her on fire. She was taken to a local primary health centre with over 80 percent burn injuries where she died immediately.

Upon arrest, the four confessed that they had burnt her to take revenge from her family to settle a prolonged land dispute, police said.
