We walked in together and decided to review the place together too. While we all did have our own unique perceptions, we all seemed to agree on one thingu00a0-- the quality of food needs to be bettered.

There's a sudden bistro buzz around the MG Road, Church Street area. I was quite elated to hear that we had one more. Primarily, because it would be technically just around the corner from our new office and well also because we'd have one more eating option.

We did check it out on Day 2, after it opened doors to the city and the ambience seemed chic, very warm and welcoming, but, the prices are such a downer. For a working lunch kind of hangout, you will not be too happy spending Rs 200 to Rs 300 per head for a mere sandwich and a shake everyday. The portion sizes are good for the French, but for us Indians, we prefer to fill our tummies for a good four hours before we finally dig into our evening snack. I loved their salad options, but the quarter plate salad put me off completely. I'm used to digging into deep bowls of salad if that's the only dish I'm having for lunch.

The ambience is nice and the red and mauve sofas give a royal feeling. However, the food is average and the portions are small. The beverages are quite decent. The sandwiches were kind of tasty, but definitely not out of the way. The Mediterranean Salad was however, a big disappointment.

The ambience is nice with a calm and serene atmosphere. The music played in the background is not too loud or too soft. It's just about in the right volume. The waiters are pleasant, which is what I always look for. But, coming to the food, it is a mixed bag with a few fabulous dishes while the others are just mediocre. The salad quantity can also be improved upon. It is more or less like having starters.

Why would this place claim to be of international acclaim and then allow their service to be so well, mediocre? I was more than appalled at how the service and menu at Matteo seemed to be organized, if organization can be a term we can use here, without sniggering. The ambience was brilliant and saddeningly that might just about be the only thing that works for the place. The food was passable and the servings beyond ridiculous. We are Indians, foreign cafes, we like large, sumptuous servings that can be split between two people, when will you ever get that! Hmph!

It's all very well organized! It's a new and quiet place for a quick and delicious lunch where we can hang out with our family members. Ideal for busy professionals and business people. The club sandwich and the salad was very fresh and light especially for me, as I am on a diet. I enjoyed my vanilla milk-shake.

It's good to know that there is a new place to step in and relax at. The comfortable couches and dim lighting at this bistro seems to make the perfect new place to hang around with friends and spend some quality time with your loved ones.
