A cab driver was allegedly robbed of around Rs 50,000 by bike-borne assailants near Birla Tower in Connaught Place on February 1. Police said that the victim, Kamal Kumar, lives in Paharganj and works with a travel agency.

"In his complaint he has said that he came to Barakhamba Road to pick up some passengers. Rohit Kumar, the owner of the Wagon-R car which he was driving, was also sitting beside him. Around 10.30pm, two boys knocked at his window. Both were wearing helmets.

As Kamal opened the window the boys took out a pistol and aimed it at Kumar and asked him to hand over the cash," said a police official. Kamal got frightened and handed them the cash he had.u00a0 The assailants also took away the valuables they had on them.

"Both the boys then rode away. The victim rushed behind them but by then the accused had vanished into thin air," said the police official. An FIR has been registered at Barakhamba Road Police station.
