3 students reportedly attacked another with a sword

Au00a020-year-old first year BA (English Honours) student of Dayal Singh College was thrashed by three fellow students on Thursday. The victim, identified as Sumit Kalra, said the accused wanted him to participate in the college election campaign and he had refused to do so. An FIR in this regard has been lodged at Lodhi Colony police station. No action, however, has been taken as yet.

Election fever
A senior police official said, "On August 11, around 2:30 pm, Kalra was returning to home when he was intercepted by three students-Rohi, Arun and Amar. They asked him why he was refusing to participate in the election campaign. Kalra said a heated argument then broke out and the accused attacked him with sharp-edged weapons."

In his statement, Kalra even alleged that he was hit by a sword. He was the rushed to the AIIMS trauma center. He was discharged later.

Kalra said, "The accused came in a car. Before I could think what was happening, they attacked me. Rohit hit me on my face and I fell down on the ground. Amar then brought a sword from the car and hit me. They left me there after threatening me to not report to police. My friend Aman Duggal, who was present at the spot, took me to hospital."

Lax cops
Kalra alleged he had given the address of the accused to the police, but no action has been taken as yet.
Meanwhile, a senior police official said they had immediately lodged an FIR under Section 341 (to intercept someone), 324 (scuffle), and 34 (common intention). "Police conducted a raid on the residences of the accused, but they are absconding. A manhunt has been launched to nab them," he said.
