Parents claim that a one-person panel has declared Sunder to be '80%' at fault

The management of Abhinav Shetkari Mandal School is waiting for principal Veena Sunder's response to allegations levelled against her by parents of the school's students and the institution's teachers.

The ongoing feud shows no signs of a resolution, with parents and the management giving different versions of the status of the enquiry. The management of the Bhayander school said that Sunder is good at her job but just a little ‘too strict.' Parents, on the other hand, insist that a special one-person committee has already given the verdict that Sunder is ‘80 per cent' at fault, but no action has been taken against her in spite of that.

MiD DAY had reported on many of Sunder's alleged deeds and remarks that had caused outrage among parents and teachers

MiD DAY had reported on many of Sunder's alleged deeds and remarks that had caused outrage among parents and teachers alike. (‘Why did you have 4 kids if you cant pay their fees?', MiD DAY, May 18). Nine teachers lodged a police complaint against Sunder on charges of insult and criminal intimidation, while 83 parents made similar accusations against her to the management. They said that Sunder slapped students, extorted parents, and made offensive, discriminatory remarks to teachers and parents.

Parents and teachers claimed that a one-person committee had been formed to make an enquiry into the matter and present the report to the management committee. However, the management claimed that all the management committee members were involved in the enquiry and no single person was given the responsibility.

Jitesh Vora, chairman of the school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA), said, "The school management formed a one-person committee and asked him to submit the report. The PTA meeting was held in front of the management and the official who had made the enquiry declared that the principal was 80 per cent at fault. I don't understand why they are denying that such a committee was formed."

Tulsidas Mhatre, former mayor and chairman of the school, said, "The committee members conducted the enquiry and no special person was appointed for the same. The principal is good at her job. The only issue is that she is strict. We have issued a notice to her and asked her for a clarification. After hearing both sides, we will decide what action can be taken."u00a0
