The Jaipur foot on Wheels initiative aims to help hundreds of physically challenged people by distributing free artificial limbs, calipers and clutches on the go
Where there are no limbs, there are wheels to the rescue. In such times of technology, life can get far better for hundreds of physically challenged people residing in the capital, and the Jaipur Foot Camp on Wheels aims to play its part in the process. In town today and tomorrow, the aid-on-the-go campaign will be distributing artificial limbs, calipers and clutches.
Organised by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur, in association with Dow India, the workshop will provide on-the-spot, tailored prosthetic aids to the needy. This apart, there will be physiotherapists who will help recipients learn to use them effectively.
Latest legThe camp will also see a first-of-its-kind Jaipur Foot. It is around 20 per cent lighter in weight. "It is extremely useful to those who have paralysis, polio or limb detachment. The camp, which is taking place for the first time in the city, is open for all, and we hope to give a new lease of life to as many as 300 u2013 400 people," says Dr Sanjiv Kumar, camp manager.
