A Pune-based builder has lodged a police complaint against a farmer family and another builder for cheating him out of a 2011 land deal, in which he had paid Rs 6.92 crore. Khemchand Bhojwani, 53, a resident of Wakad, approached the Sangvi police station against builder Naresh Wadhwani, Janabai Kate, sons Suresh, Raju and Santosh, and Vaishali Kate, all residents of Pimpale Saudagar in Pimpri-Chinchwad. A case has been filed but no arrest has been made yet.
Handed over
Sub-inspector Amit Shete said, "The complainant has alleged that he had entered into an agreement with the Kate family to develop a parcel of land they owned. He'd paid them Rs 6.92 crore, for which he was given the power of attorney along with the agreement in his name in 2011. In 2017, as the area developed and he started planning his project on the land, he found out that the family had handed over ownership and agreement of the land to Wadhwani. We are investigating the allegation."
'Implicating us'
Members of Wadhwani and Kate families, have refuted Bhojwani's allegation. "He is trying to malign our name by implicating us in this case. He is building the case to put pressure on us. We will seek legal opinion in this regard," one of them said.
