The complainant has alleged that 2 people have forwarded him a cartoon in which Mamata Banerjee's head is missing with the comment our CM has lost her head

Cartoons and professors in West Bengal continue to be in the news. This time a medical college professor has filed a police complaint against two others for allegedly mailing him a cartoon making fun of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Not a laughing matter: Earlier this month, Jadavpur University professor Ambikesh Mahapatra was arrested after he circulated allegedly defamatory cartoons of TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. File pic

Bikram Saha, an associate professor in Midnapore Medical College, some 130 km from Kolkata, in his police complaint alleged that Proloy Mitra and Chinmay Roy had forwarded him a cartoon in which Banerjee's head was missing with the comment "our CM (chief minister) has lost her head". Though the complaint has been registered, no arrests have been made so far, police said.

Earlier Jadavpur University professor Ambikesh Mahapatra was arrested after he circulated allegedly defamatory cartoons of some Trinamool Congress leaders, including Banerjee.

The arrest evoked severe criticism from all quarters. Many chose social networking sites to vent their ire by ridiculing the Banerjee government for the police action against Mahapatra.
