Fire breaks out in Pune mall; no casualty

The blaze at Koregaon Park Plaza was brought under control within two hours with help of ten fire engines.


A major fire broke out in a city mall where 15 trapped persons were rescued but there was no report of any casualty, Fire Brigade and police said.

The blaze at Koregaon Park Plaza started at around 1730 hrs and it was brought under control within two hours with help of ten fire engines, they said.

About 15 staff members of the mall, located in eastern part of the city, were trapped on the third floor of the building. They were safely rescued and there were no reports of any casualty, Fire Brigade added.

The cause of the mishap was being investigated. The incident coincided with the devastating fire at Mantralaya (state secretariat) in Mumbai. A spokesman of Koregaon Park Plaza later said the fire started in the "anchor store" of the mall.
