If you are taking a stroll on North Main Road, be prepared to do a double take when you see the name of the latest snack joint. Fret not, as the eatery is not half as scary as it sounds. Venture inside and you will find a range of muffins, hot dogs, burgers, cookies and sandwiches. Owner Mayuri Kapasi states that they are primarily a sandwich shop and the good news for health-conscious foodies is that everything is cooked in olive oil. The name, by the way, is an interesting concoction of two of the dishes available there sandwiches and hot dogs.

Ambience: Witches and Dogs resembles a regular American deli where you can grab a quick bite. The shop is tiny and you can opt for take away or sit on the high bar stools. The walls are brown and mustard in colour and goodies tempt you from neat shelves lining the walls. The owner personally helps you choose from the menu and you might also come across her husband DJ Yusuf, hanging around.

Range: On the menu are unique Carrot, Lemon and Marble (half-chocolate) muffins (Rs 45). Check out their Chilli Hot Dog (Rs 110) or opt for Chicken Burger (Rs110) and Veg Burger (Rs 90). Their Beef Burger Sandwich (Rs 110) and Pizza Burger (Rs 120) are a meal by themselves. If you are a fan of Italian flat bread, dig into Cheese Focaccia (Rs 35 per piece), Cheese Garlic Focaccio (Rs 55 per slice) and Sundried Tomato (Rs 35 per slice). Sauces such as Mustard Marinara, Pesto and Black Pepper range between Rs 100 to Rs 120 and can add some spice to any dish. They also have Granola bars for Rs 55, which are made from muesli, oats, sesame and chocolate. The Walnut Toffee Tart (Rs 40) also looked very inviting.

If all this food makes you thirsty, sip on South Indian coffee, which makes for a strange but tasty combination. Herbal tea will be launched soon, including ginger and green tea (in the dip bag format). If you want something cool, choose from their range of Smoothies or Juices available for Rs 70. Don't miss their Carrot Juice, which is one of the most popular items available, apart from the Carrot muffins. If you want a bite of their famed Carrot Muffins, go early.

We tried: We really wanted to try the Carrot Muffins (Rs 45) but they were already sold out. Instead, we opted for the delicious Walnut Short Bread (Rs 85) that included chunks of our favourite nut and we loved the crispness. The Banana Walnut Bread (Rs 20 per slice) was soft and yummy. The Muesli Cookies (Rs 60 per pack) were crisp and included dried fruits.
