Can't get over the new track from Dev.D? The 5th Natsamrat Natya Utsav in town is for those with a taste for desi drama and humour

Oscar Wilde once said, "I regard theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being." If you agree, head to a fun fest that is all set to salute the spirit of Indian theatre. Organised by Natsamrat Theatre, the 5th Natsamrat Natya Utsav, which commences tomorrow is all about comedy, romance and tragedyu00a0 emotions that are key to any well-lived life.

The nine-day do will see participation from groups like Mask (APP), Vivechana (from Jabalpur), Yavnika, Theatrewala and Asmita, who will in all stage 13 plays.

"Our aim is to bring great entertainment on one platform. Due to public demand, we will be staging our three popular playsu00a0Kanjoos, Kambakht Ishq and Kallu, too," said Shyam Kumar, director, Natsamrat Theatre.u00a0 "We will also will be having play screenings in the lawns every evening, which will give visitors a fulfilling experience," he added.

Win-win deal

The event will also witness the Natsamrat Theatre Awards in seven categories Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Critic, Best Writer, Best in Back-Stage and Lifetime Achievement Award for those who
have contributed significantly to the theatre industry. The ceremony takes place on February 1. "We thought there was a need to recognise the talent that the theatre industry has," Shyam signed off.

Chandu and Ahmed are two friends in love with Nagma and Sheeba. They invite both the girls to make them meet Chandu's aunt, but she cancels her visit. They take help from a friend, dress him as a woman and introduce him as their aunt to the girls' father, who in turn falls in love with the duplicate aunt. Trouble starts when Chandu's real Aunt arrives. Yes, Aunty No 1, it is.

Ek Machine Kabadi Ki

Supna Ka Sapna

Revolving around Supna and Babu Saheb, the play begins with a celebration in a village, where a time capsule containing the details of the privileged Babu Saheb and his family is brought out. Innocent Supna objects and says that details of all villagers should be put in the time capsule. This starts a war between the two, forcing Supna to leave the village. But he will be back!

Miser Mirza Sakhawat has locked 10,000 asharafis away. The twist comes when Mirza Sahab wants to marry Marium, who is his son Farukh's lover. Then starts a quarrel between Farukh and Mirza for Marium. At last, Mirza kicks Farukh out of the house. Interestingly, Farukh had stolen dad's money with the help of their servant Nabbu. What follows is a fair deal.
