Dance lovers, irrespective of their dancing skills, are welcome in this group

Dance lovers, irrespective of their dancing skills, are welcome in this group

When Subhash Dhang (30) and his four friends came up with the idea of forming a group for dance lovers 11 years ago, the dance scene in the city was not very big. But this did not deter Subhash and or his friends Akshay Bhonsle, Anjali Kukreja, Sachin Dhang and Terance Joseph and Young Talent Association (YTA) was born. Over the years, YTA has seen the dance scene grow exponentially.

Explained Subhash, "Thanks to reality shows, people are more aware of dance now than they were when we founded in 1998. Each of the four of us represents a different dance form. Our aim is to dance and have fun at the same time."

The group now organises a number of cultural, professional and corporate shows and has even choreographed for a few films. But what they love doing the most is introducing dance to the underprivileged.

Last November, YTA put up a free dance show for the special children of the Prayathana school. This year, to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, they voluntarily organised a dance workshop for the children of the NGO Innocent Heroes.

The group also gets together every Wednesday evening to watch movies on dance. The screening is followed by an intense discussion. Aakash Shetty (21), one of the students said, "I love dance and it's nice to be with other dance lovers."

Agreed Santosh Yadav, another member, "It's a friendly helpful environment and buzzes with energy. It's an exciting group."

As Akshay puts it, "We are all passionate about dance. Dance brought us all together. We feel we have achieved our dream."
