Body of 11-yr-old, who went missing on Tuesday during school picnic to water park, found floating in pool filtration tank yesterday; family suspect foul play
Koparkhairne's Jijamata Conve-nt School's annual picnic to Dehu Road Sentosa Resort and Water Park on Tuesday ended in tragedy when Std V student Chirag Narayan Patel (11) went missing. His body was found in the filtration tank of the sw-imming pool yesterday.
Chirag's uncle Mahadev Patel blamed both the school and the park management for his death. "Why did no one stay back when they learnt that one of their students had gone missing? When our family members and relatives rushed to the resort at 2 pm, the resort employees were so uncooperative that we suspected foul play. We can't believe that a small boy like him lifted the 20-kg lid of the filtration tank and entered it. It is more likely that he was thrown in," said Patel, who threatened to take the boy's body to the school today.
A missing complaint had been registered at the Dehu Road police station on Tuesday. The police have booked Chirag's class teacher Jasmin Mirza and the resort owner, Ashok Ahuja, under Section 304 (A) of the IPC. Nitin Gokave, senior police inspector, Dehu Road, said, "According to the provisional post mortem report, the boy drowned to death. We will interrogate the students in presence of their parents and teachers."u00a0
An official from the school administration, said, "We have no clue how Chirag's body reached the filter tank. We have nothing to say."
