Having finally found the door to Jimi's Beer Cafe, which initially appears to be solely for Qwicky's Coffee, one is drawn to the twilight setting of Jimi's on the left, rather than the empty Qwicky's on the right.u00a0
This place is serious about its rock 'n' roll vibe. As soon as you enter you can immediately spot framed posters and artwork relating back to the Hendrix days. Even the tables display old memorabilia underneath the glass surface. In the hazy smoking area are men sitting around sharing a three-litre beer tower, which could have easily been mistaken for a blender. It probably was. Jimi's likes to shake up anything they can with beer, selling themselves as being the only bar that supplies Beer Cocktails.u00a0

Food and drinks: If you are not a fan of beer and fancy an alcoholic beverage don't come to Jimi's. If you are a beer connoisseur and enjoy a variety of beers don't come to Jimi's. However, if you strive for quantity over quality and expect a variety of foods Jimi is your man. The bar only serves Kingfisher and Fosters beers priced reasonably at Rs 70 on tap, Rs 110 for a pint, Rs 275 for a pitcher and Rs 550 for the three-litre tower.u00a0
After a few pints you might like to brave a Death Wish, a spicy concoction of beer and chilli priced at Rs 100.
Interesting idea, but unless you're buying it for someone to drink as a dare or joke, it's frankly undrinkable, with a chili literally plopped into a cocktail shaped glass or beer. The Citrus Fest was also a slight let down, the mixture of tangy orange and beer just tastes like watered down fruit juice. There are also a range of Mocktails on the menu, Jimi's Special containing a mixture of fruit juices and ice cream.u00a0
Main course meals were reasonably priced with a maximum meal of grilled fish or chicken steak costing Rs 200. The range of choice was impressive with different dishes under the titles of Tandoor, Chinese, Wraps, Salads, Continental, Eggs, Pastas and Quick Bites.u00a0
Service: The service was quick and the waiters were attentive, even if they weren't initially sure what each cocktail comprised of.u00a0
Ambience: Shut your eyes and you'll feel like you've stepped back a few centuries into America with the likes of Guns 'n' Roses bleating out from your stereo and early Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Open your eyes to a modern setting of illuminated Hendrix posters, blue lighting, and plasma televisions playing music videos. The beer-hungry people gravitate to the small-enclosed smoking area, where the music is deafeningly loud. Inside are young couples and groups of men presumably straight out of work. The rest of the bar is more or less empty.
While the music and setting create a rock 'n' roll atmosphere, the menu confuses its authentic image of the traditional American bar, which it appears to be aspiring to.u00a0u00a0u00a0
