Thrissur/Guruvayur: Close on the heels of the arrest of the principal and six students of a polytechnic in Kerala for featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi in its campus magazine as a "negative face", a journal of a nearby college has also been found to have cast aspersions on Modi prompting the police to swing into action.

Police on Friday registered a case against the principal and 11 students of the Sree Krishnan College at Guruvayur after its campus magazine was found to have used "objectionable and unsavoury" language against Modi, in the garb of a crossword puzzle.

The Guruvyaur Sree Krishna temple managing committee, which runs the college, had sought an explanation from the principal in connection with the case, temple administration sources said.

BJP and its youth wing workers took out a protest march demanding action against the principal, police said.

The principal and a few students of the Government polytechnic at Kunnamkulam are facing legal action for featuring Modi's photograph in the college magazine under a list of "negative faces" with Adolf Hitler, George W Bush, Osama bin Laden and a few others.

The principal of the polytechnic M N Krishnan Kutty and six students, including the Student Editor of the college union controlled by CPI(M)'s campus wing SFI, were arrested and let off on bail.

Police also raided the polytechnic and seized 392 copies of the magazine, a computer and hard discs of the designers of the magazine.

Police had charged them under various IPC sections for concealing design to commit offence, wantonly giving provocation, punishment for defamation and printing matter known to be defamatory.

The campus magazine for 2013-14 was released recently and one of its pages titled 'negative faces' featured a photograph of Modi.

Others in the collage included sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran, Adolf Hitler, Al-Qaeda chief Laden and George W Bush, police said.
