A CCTV footage has also surfaced which shows Singh was carrying a gun. It is alleged that the rape was committed at gunpoint. The victim had approached police on Friday and an FIR was registered following which the ASI was arrested. He was produced before a court on Friday, which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. The medical examination of the girl confirmed rape.

Commissioner of Delhi Police B S Bassi said they were examining his dismissal under Article 311(2)(B) (of Constitution). He said the police will work to ensure that a chargesheet is filed at the earliest and the accused is convicted.

"As far as departmental thing (sic) is concerned, we are not going to wait for the departmental enquiry. He will be dismissed under Article 311 (2) B where a person is dismissed straightaway," Bassi said. He asserted that any police official indulging in transgression of law will not be spared. "He will not be spared and we need not be told (this) by anybody. This is our determination... we are determined to take strictest possible action against any police officer who indulges in transgression of law," he said. "Particularly, anybody who indulges in violence or criminal acts against woman shall not be spared. Strictest possible action will be taken in this case. As you know, the report was lodged with police and he was arrested," the Delhi Police Commissioner said.

The BJP too assured quick action and expressed confidence that the Delhi Police will ensure that justice is meted out. "It is a fact then you have to take the harshest possible punishment. And I am confident that Delhi Police will do its best to ensure that no crime like this goes unchecked and makes sure that justice is meted out," BJP leader Nalin Kohli said.
