An unidentified woman stole 350 gram of gold from the house of Advocate Vijay Gopal Saswadkar in Narayan Peth on last afternoon. The suspect had kept a watch on the movements of the lawyer and knew where the house keys were kept, which she used to commit the offence.
u00a0Anjali (48), wife of Saswadkar, had gone out of the house at around 1.30 pm and returned in half an hour. She saw the woman coming out of her house, but before she could react, the suspect vanished from the spot.
After that Anjali checked to see what was missing and realised that 350 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 5.22 lakh had been stolen from the house.
u00a0Police Inspector Motichand Rathod from the Vishrambaug police station said, "The suspect had entered the house using the original keys, which the complainant used to keep at a certain place. One of the residents identified the suspect and on the basis of the description given by that resident and we are preparing a sketch."
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Dnyaneshwar Phadtare, Assistant Commissioner Bharat Bhushan Sharma visited the spot.
