There comes a point in all our lives when we question if we really are helping the 'greater cause' or if our individual actions will count.

There comes a point in all our lives when we question if we really are helping the 'greater cause' or if our individual actions will count. Here's your chance to pull it together. Get four of your like-minded friends and enroll or be part of a bunch of activities that you think could make your city a better place to live, work and play at.

Start with the basic one, the one that famous people urge you to do. Vote. It's your right, exercise it. And if you have not, then register to vote. It's become simple thanks to the Internet. Once all five of you get your forms, divide the duties one could go submit the forms, the other could read up on the candidates, which will help you make a better choice. And if the government is not delivering its promises, then you have every right to raise your voice because you got your finger inked.

The weather is playing havoc, so instead of huffing and puffing, get your BFFs to make small changes in their lives. Car pool instead of individually taking your vehicles. It is a great way to catch up with each other and when you get stuck in a horrible jam, you know how to kill time. Be part of a tree planting drive. Plant a tree each for the great times you have had together. Reduce, reuse and recycle. Compare which of you used the least amount of water in a single day or how many people you stopped from littering. Wrap gifts recycled paper.
If it's a birthday or occasion, check with the others and instead of buying a fancy watch or an embellished top, make a donation in your friend's name to an NGO or a charitable organisation that you agree needs your support. Spend a few days a month helping with the NGO and also donate a part of your salary to them.u00a0

If you are in your 30s and still have not voted or not bothered to register, shame on you. After 30, if you have a family, it becomes a lot more about them, than about being with friends and doing something you all enjoy together. When your children grow older, the five of you can pat your backs and claim that you did your bit to make their future a bit greener.
