Manoj Sudam Jadhav (17), a student of class XI at D Y Patil College in Pimri, who had shot himself in the head on Saturday morning, succumbed to the injury at Birla Hospital yesterday morning. Manoj had shot himself at his residence in Chikhali.

The Dehu Road police said that Manoj, who was in love with a classmate, was facing strong opposition from his and the girlfriend's family members over their relationship.

Stating that the couple was too young to understand the importance of love and a relationship, Manoj's family members asked him not to get romantically involved with the girl. The police suspect that this might have forced Manoj to take the drastic step.

"Manoj was living with his mother and two elder brothers, Vikas and Sachin. Vikas is a businessman and has a licenced revolver for self-protection," said Ram Jadhav, PSI, Dehu Road police station. He added that on Saturday morning, Manoj went to his brother's bedroom, took out the revolver from
the cupboard and shot himself in the head.

"Hearing the gun go off, his mother and brothers ran to the bedroom and found Manoj lying in a pool of blood. They rushed him to the YCM Hospital. He was later shifted to Birla Hospital, where he died on Sunday morning at 11 am," said Jadhav.u00a0
