1 killed, 1 injured on Expressway as car crashes into divider

An accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway left one person dead and one injured yesterday.


The police said a Maruti Esteem car (MH-03 5359) crashed into a road divider after a tyre burst, killing Prashant Namdev Kambale (35) on the spot and injuring Vijay Madhukar Adagale, both residents of Ghatkopar in Mumbai.

ASP A B Rane of the Lonavala rural police reached the spot soon after the mishap and the injured person was taken to a private hospital in Nigadi. The car was bound for the city when the accident occurred at 6 am.

Eight accidents have taken place on the Expressway in the past three weeks, leaving 38 dead and 61 injured. u00a0According to the police, most accidents were the result of speeding and violation of traffic rules. u00a0
