confessional statement is curtailed

The organisation works towards rehabilitation of the Mecca blast accused. "If the Australia government can apologise to Dr Haneef, an Indian citizen, then why can't the Indian government apologise to its own citizens," said Lateef Mohammed Khan who heads the CLMC.

"Now they want to know about the suffering youth and their families. Our committee is not surprised by his statements because we have been saying the same thing from the beginning," he said.u00a0The committee believes that Asimanand's confessional statement is curtailed. "There is no mention of logistical local support at Hyderabad in his statement. In fact he is taking advantage of innocent youth, to hide real facts, as well as real culprits who supported him," said Khan.

AP ATS in the dock
Coming down heavily on the ATS for misguiding the investigation, Khan said, "Why have the Hyderabad police registered two FIRs for one incident? Why did they keep one case with them and give the other to the CBI? If at all the government is sincere, then why did they appoint a government pleader to defend the accused police officers in City Civil Court against the suit filed to claim the damages for the victims?"

"The Andhra Pradesh government is cheating the Muslim community by saying that it is ready to apologise to them if it was established that innocent youth of the community were deliberately harassed by the police in the aftermath of blast. We want to say that the AP government has not apologised to Muslims, but are just pretending to do so," said Khan. "It is high time for the government to rebuild the confidence of Muslims on the secular and democratic fabric," he added.

The demands

'' Apologise unconditionally to the community and particularly to the victims
'' Withdraw cases registered against the innocent
'' Rehabilitate the victims of khaki terror
'' Let CBI re-investigate all blast cases from the beginning
'' Stop suspecting Muslims from other states
