Latest photographs which television channels claimed were that of Ajmal Amir Kasab were beamed late Tuesday night, nailing reports in a section of the Pakistani media that the lone surviving terrorist arrested in the Mumbai terror attacks was "dead".

The pictures show Kasab sitting on a chair and his handcuffs could be partially seen amid reports that it may have been taken in the Mumbai crime branch premises.

His lower arms was also seen wrapped in bandage. It was also not known when the pictures were taken but some reports said it may have been taken a couple of days back. The Maharashtra government has already rubbished reports in the Pakistani media about Kasab's fate saying he is "very much alive".

"Kasab is in Mumbai police custody and very much alive," state Home Minister Jayant Patil said on January 30. "If any one have doubts, those from Pakistan Consulate can come and see for themselves that he is alive," he had said.
