Gusty winds along with very heavy rainfall hit Mumbai on May 17 due to the extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae, which has barrelled towards Gujarat. As a result, more than 600 trees collapsed across the city, mostly in the South and Western suburbs. Many parts of Mumbai and its neighbouring districts faced severe waterlogging. According to officials, two people were killed in neighbouring Palghar, one person died in Thane, and four people reportedly died in Raigad district in separate incidents related to the cyclonic storm.
