The railways is carrying out the piling work for Mumbai Metro Line-2B on the railway tracks between Mahim and Bandra stations

The railways will conduct the soil testing for the metro line

Meanwhile, in order to provide better train services, Western Railway has completed Non-Interlocking of Mahim station during the Night Block undertaken on October 21 and 22 

During the block, Western Railway installed Electronic Interlocking of Westrace make

The installation of Electronic Interlocking included  66 routes, 32 signals, 17 points, patching of 77 track circuits, auto changeover facility, Fire Alarm System, Indicators, control phones and telecom facilities shifted from old Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) to new Electronic Interlocking building

The introduction of electronic interlocking will enhance safety by eliminating manual errors, the railways said

With its fail-safe operation, faster decision making and automated route setting and signal management, efficiency will be increased through the Electronic Interlocking system

The work will reduce signal failures, reduce maintenance and improve train operations
