Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has said that the oath-taking ceremony of the new Mahayuti government will take place on December 5 evening at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai

Though the party has made no announcement, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the deputy chief minister in the outgoing government, is being seen as the frontrunner for the key position

The party's two main allies, the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party, are each likely to be given deputy CM positions in the new government

The results of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly were declared on November 23

The ruling coalition Mahayuti, comprising BJP — Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP —secured 230 of the 288 seats in the state assembly

The BJP won 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena secured 57 seats, and NCP 41 seats

The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a major setback. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) won only 20 seats, while Congress and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) secured 16 and 10 seats, respectively
