Familiarize yourself with the location of your voting station and the shortest way there. Knowing the layout can assist you avoid spending unnecessary time outside. If your polling location is overcrowded, search for shaded locations to wait
Voters queued outside polling booths can face harsh temperatures to exercise their right to vote and democracy and as winter mornings are cooler compared to afternoons, to beat the heat, try to reach your respective polling booth in the morning
Make sure you drink plenty of water before leaving the house. Carry a water bottle to remain hydrated while you wait. Avoid sugary and caffeinated beverages, as these can lead to dehydration
Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and breathable clothing. Cotton materials are ideal because they improve air circulation. Choose light-colored clothing that reflects sunlight instead than absorbing it
Remember to wear a wide-brimmed hat or carry an umbrella to protect yourself from direct sunlight
To stay energised, keep some food on hand, such as fruits or energy bars
If the queue is long, don't be afraid to take small pauses in a shady place to cool off. Ask a fellow voter to keep your spot in line, or notify the polling personnel that you require a little break. It's critical to listen to your body and rest if you feel dizzy or weak
