A 5-year-old minor collapsed while playing on the premises of the housing society in Dombivali and died.
The minor child, who studied in a KG class, went to the play area of their residential complex in Dombivali on Tuesday, while his mother waited outside.
"After some time, the boy fell unconscious inside the play area. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead," said a police official from Manpada police station.
According to the police, the body was sent for a post-mortem to the hospital, and a case of accidental death was registered.

The police official said, "Cops were questioning the two caretakers who were present in the play area at the time of the incident."
Meanwhile, in another incident, the Mumbai Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing a 75-year-old woman at Wadala in central Mumbai.
The 27-year-old accused, identified as Mohd Faiz Rafique Sayyad, is a resident of BPT Gate No 5 in Wadala east, the police official said.
"He murdered the woman, Sugrabi Hussain Mulla, by hitting her head with a steel rod. The woman died on the spot," the police official said.
"The accused stuffed the body in a gunny bag and threw her from the window of the house," the police official added.
He also tried to destroy the evidence by setting her body on fire, the official said.
