Babar was Shiv Sena's legislator from Khanapur in Sangli district.
Condoling Babar's death, Shinde said that he has lost a guide, a close associate and the state has lost a senior representative of the people. CM Shinde said that Babar's cremation will take place with full state honours.
"Khanapur Assembly Constituency MLA Anil Babar has sadly passed away. With his demise, we have truly lost a very effective public representative running the social work arm of Shiv Sena. Instructions have also been given to the administration to cremate him with full state honours," CM Shinde said in a social media post.
He further wrote, "His (Anil Babar's) work for Shiv Sena in his Khanapur Atpadi constituencies is unforgettable. Be it trying to house the homeless, organising blood donation camps, trying to implement the Krishna Valley Water and Tent Scheme or spreading education to the grassroots level through educational institutions, Anil Babar served as an exemplary public representative."
"Anil Babar always ferociously fought for the farmers' problems in the Khanapur Atpadi area. He worked tirelessly to solve their problems. We have lost a senior Shiv Sena representative; I have lost my close colleague and mentor. May God bless his soul and give strength to the members of Babar's family to recover from this suffering. A heartfelt tribute," he further wrote.
