Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Mumbai today on Thursday, will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of a string of projects worth more than Rs 38,000 crore aimed at developing infrastructure, easing urban travel, and strengthening healthcare.
Here we detail all about the Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A and 7 that the Prime Minister will inaugurate today:

Interchange facility or Multimodal Connectivity:
Interchange with Line-6 at Lower Oshiwara and Line-1 at Andheri (West). Connected with Line-7 & Line- 9 at Dahisar(E) station and Line-2B at Andheri (W).
Mumbai Metro App:
The Mumbai Metro App "Mumbai-1" will generate a QR code on mobile phones for access at Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) points located at entry and exit gates.
The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC):
NCMC card will initially be used on MMRDA operated Metro corridors and gradually extended to other modes of mass public transit including local trains and buses. Commuters will not need to carry multiple cards or cash, the NCMC card will enable quick, contactless digital transactions, thereby easing the process with a seamless experience. Recharges can be done in multiples of Rs 100 up to Rs 2,000.
Trains:
22 Trains of six cars; total 132 cars/coaches.
Passenger capacity:
Total 2308 passengers per train; 310 seating and 1,998 Standing passengers per train.
Train Operation and Frequency:
Initially 6.00 am to 10.00 pm with Frequency of 8 mins during peak hours and 10 mins in non peak hours.
Train Operation/Signalling and driver less operations:
Trains are designed for driverless operations along with communication-based train control (CBTC) signalling systems. However, during initial phases, the trains will be manned by Train Operator/Attendant. The system will be upgraded to unmanned train operation (UTO) in future.
Platform Screen doors:
Platform Screen Doors are provided at all the stations. These are synchronized with train door opening and closing. The provision of PSD at platform level will avoid incidents of passengers falling on the tracks.
Divyang friendly features:
Tactile tiles, which serve as a navigation guide for visually impaired people and thereby, enhance the accessibility of a place, have been incorporated at the Metro stations. Similarly Braille Elevator Buttons with Braille text, which enable people with visual impairments to read the numbers / words on the control panel, have been incorporated in the lifts. Wheel chaired passenger can use lifts to access the platform/ trains provision made in First & Last coaches.
First aid and medical facilities:
All stations are provided with exclusive First Aid rooms equipped with basic medical facilities such as stretcher, wheelchair, first aid kits etc.
Water facility or toilet availability:
All stations are provided with drinking water and separate washroom facilities for gents, ladies & specially abled persons.
Security at station:
All stations are provided with Baggage scanning machines, handheld metal detectors, door frame metal detectors. All stations will be manned by MSF security and trained private guards including women security personnel. Security Control Room equipped with state-of-art surveillance system.
Women safety features:
Women security staff have been deployed at all stations. All metro trains have been incorporated with Women Helpline numbers as well as all trains have special compartment for women.

CCTV surveillance, camera, and Security:
Approx. 50 to 60 CCTV cameras are provided at each station covering platform area, concourse area and street level. The system is equipped with latest video analytics features for surveillance like Intrusion detection, Abandoned/Unattended Object Detection and crowd estimation. The monitoring is on Real Time basis through Operations Control centre.
Evacuation Measures, Fire safety and Rescue time:
⢠Staff trained by MCGM Disaster Management is available 24x7 at all stations to guide passengers during emergency. Evacuation route maps and exit signages are displayed at all stations.
⢠All stations are equipped with Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hydrants, Fire detection & suppression system at critical locations.
⢠Stations are designed for rescue / evacuation of passengers as per standards.
Elevators and Escalators:
Passenger movement is facilitated by Escalator and Elevators (from footpath to concourse and concourse to platform). Total elevators- 68, Escalators- 103.
Ticketing system:
⢠Latest fare collection technology with Paper QR Ticket, Mobile QR Ticket as Fare media within Metro network. National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) card will be accepted as common mobility card.
⢠QR code tickets are proposed for Single/Return journey.
⢠Sub-systems include entry and exit gates, bidirectional wide aisle, TVM, TOM, EFO, Ticket Readers, Central Computer at OCC, AVM, Station Computer Servers.
